Museum collection “Rifnik and its treasures”

A visitor can admire more than 600 exhibits which are on display from the New Stone Age to the arrival of the Slavs.

 

 

 

 

Ipavec family house

In the populous old market town centre there is the house of the Ipavec family, built in 1760. This legendary lineage from Šentjur went down in history mainly because of their contributions to music and medicine.

 

 

Birthplace of Anton Martin Slomšek

The blessed Anton Martin Slomšek was born in 1800 in the village Uniše near Ponikva. His place of birth has been restored and can be visited all year round.

 

 

Museum of the Southern Railway

The Museum of the Southern Railway is located at the railway station in Šentjur. In Franz-Joseph's transport office you can see a display of rich archives and rail devices since 1844.

 

 

Planina museum collection – Šmid ethnological collection

The collection consists of objects and tools used by the inhabitants of Planina and the surrounding areas in the 19th and 20th century for everyday chores such as cooking in the so-called black kitchen, farm chores, viticulture etc ...

 

 

Museum collection “Early glassworks in the Žusem area”

With its furnishing and displayed items, the church of St. Leopold is a real museum of glass workshops operating in Loka and in the area since the middle of the 18th century.

 

 

Permanent exhibition “Kozjansko glows”

The Celje Museum of Recent History has opened a permanent exhibition, “Kozjansko glows” in Planina. The images and the texts bring that period of World War II in the Kozjansko region, closer to the viewer.

 

 

Permanent exhibition “New Swing Quartet – Song of the Southern Railway”

The commemorative room informs visitors about the activities and the history of the quartet and its importance in Slovenia and abroad. Music is at the heart of the exhibition, which is entirely bilingual - in Slovene and English.

 

 

Commemorative room of Blaž Kocen

 

The Debelak Family built a small wooden house on the site of the house in Hotunje where Kocen was born. In 2009 an exhibition, prepared by the tourist association of Ponikva, on the life and work of Blaž Kocen was opened.

 

 

Gallery “Galerija Zgornji trg”

The Gallery, “Galerija Zgornji trg” is located in the basement at 17 Ulica skladateljev Ipavcev and holds temporary exhibitions
