The Union of Hunters Loka pri Žusmu has 29 members. They take care for a hunting area that is 2,800 ha (11 square miles) large and is situated in 5 local communities (Šmarje pri Jelšah, Šentjur, Lesično, Podčetrtek, Virštanj). The land borders on 5 neighbouring unions of hunters (Dobje, Podčetrtek, Pristava, Loka and Log Šentvid).

 

Number of the animals in the area: 220 game animals (deer), 30 to 35 chamois, many wild boars, a few rabbits and some foxes.


Also hunters from Germany and Austria visit this Union of Hunters. It is possible to see how they work and the animals in the wild.


The Podgaj inn in Loka pri Žusmu offers homemade sausages (wild boar, deer) and wine. There you can also see their hunting trophies.

The Union of Hunters Šentjur has 51 members. They take care for a hunting area that is 4.933 ha (19 square miles) large and boarders on Grobelno, Prožinska vas, motorway, Kalobje, train station in Ponikva.
Number of the animals in the area: game animals (450), foxes (100); some animals of other species: rabbits, pheasants, pine martens, beech martens, wild boar and crows.


It is possible to see how they hunt or to even join them (by prior arrangement).
